Boy god has truly taken my family in a total new direction since my last post. It's been a difficult journey but may be a blessing in disguise.

My eldest son started high school this year. He was going down hard. Academically he was struggling. falling in with rough, older kids. He was being bullied tremendously. Finally he was severely assaulted and beaten. We prosecuted and the criminal charges pending the juvenile courts. The youth who attacked my son was allowed back to school after 5 days of suspension despite a previous violent offense before the beating of my son.

I knew I could not send my son back there. I pulled him and we are now HOMESCHOOLING. Praise God it's been hard but it's the right thing I can feel it down to my toes. Our lives had taken a 180! for the good I believe.

Right now we are deschooling and I am connecting with so many good christian families, and I have found a supportive Christian homeschooling group to attend which has welcome us with open arms. They took me into their homes and prayed with us and for us. One wonderful lady who homeschooled her children all way through high school came and did a home visit to get us started and given us advice on high school homeschooling and college transitions.

My son is healing physically and he is beginning to bloom. He is writing a novel and he has stopped the tough guy act he had to hold up in public schools and he has told me he is happy to be who he is .. kind, senstivie and thoughful. Not someone he has to pretend to be (a tough thug). My youngest is still in public schools but considering homeschooling him as well in a few years (middle school age).

I believe we also have found a church home. The children's minister is so welcoming to take my son with autism into their church. I attended one service and ran into a couple I know. The lady teaches autistic children. Funny how God aligns things.

I have dropped my nursing courses. A doctor friend of mine would like me to his transcription (I am also doing IC work in that field from home as I have for the past 9 years). I am sure at some point I will return to my studies but for now my focus is on homeschooling my children and becoming the woman God wants me to be.

Love to connect with other homeschoolers. I am on a few Yahoo groups. You will be surprised how many of us there are out there doing this.

don't let other say you cannot! You can.... Very Happy

Elaine
